Mavericks Hockey Club Earns Two Silver Medals at MLK Challenge Tournament

The Mavericks Hockey Club turned in a strong performance at the MLK Challenge Tournament this weekend, earning two silver medals after competitive runs in multiple divisions. Mavericks teams showed grit and determination throughout the tournament, battling to the final games against tough opponents.

In the 8uB Flight 3 division, the Mavericks came up just short in the championship game, falling 2–1 to the Firebirds in very close final. The low-scoring matchup highlighted strong defensive play and goaltending on both sides, with the Mavericks pushing until the final horn.

The Mavericks also reached the finals in 10uB Flight 2, where they were edged 7–6 in a shootout by the Jr. Reign. The championship game was one of the most exciting of the weekend, featuring back-and-forth scoring before being decided in the shootout.

With the MLK Challenge now complete, the Mavericks Hockey Club looks ahead to what’s next. Early bird registration is now open for the Mavericks Spring program, and families can also look forward to a sneak peek at the upcoming Presidents’ Day Tournament, as the club continues its development-focused season.
